Maddie's First Official Haircut!

Let's be honest, Maddie's hair was quickly becoming a mullet. Brandon took matters into his own hands and made her an appointment at Cool Cuts for Kids - one of those kid salons where they sit in a car and watch cartoons while they get their hair cut. Maddie loved the lego table in the waiting area.
Here's the before picture...
She loved the car and "steered" through the whole haircut. No turning back now...And the finished product, here is the after picture! This one is from the back. It's an a-line bob, so it's shorter in the back than the front. So adorable. She kept that purple bow in all day - even in the bathtub.
She looks like a little girl now - what happened to my baby?

Autumn in Arizona

Just when you think you can't take one more day of 100+ Arizona temperatures, something magical happens around September... it starts cooling down, fast. Within a few weeks, the night temperatures are back down in the 60's and the days are in the 80's. Perfect.

Maddie loves being outside – she would be perfectly content living outside. She kicks and screams and throws a gigantic fit when it's time to come back inside. She loves to explore and inspect everything. She is so curious! A walk around the neighborhood with Maddie is not a straight path. We go up everyone’s driveways, pick up rocks, pick flowers, and chase birds. This morning, after our walk, she picked some flowers in our front yard.
We have a mini-autumn event going on in our front yard right now. The tiny leaves are falling off our tree and creating a leaf blanket on the lawn. Maddie laid down in it and kicked her little feet to make the leaves fly everywhere. Even in the desert, we can have fun fall activities.Be on the lookout for pictures/video of Maddie's first pumpkin carving experience.... she picked out her pumpkin yesterday at the farmer's market.

The votes are in....

Maddie's Halloween costume is ... the world's most adorable bumble bee!!!Brandon and Maddie had a daddy-daughter date to the mall to pick out her super cute bumble bee costume. She got to test it out at the ward Trunk or Treat tonight. She wanted to run through the halls instead of mingling with everyone else. She looked so funny running around in a bee costume, I had to make a video. Imagine "Flight of the Bumble Bee" in the background as you watch it.

Maddie feet and Daddy feet

Maddie LOVES her daddy. And Daddy ADORES his Maddie. They play all the time, they go on walks every day, and no one can make Maddie laugh like her Daddy.

This morning, Maddie was sizing up her feet against her dad's feet. It is so neat to see her make connections and understand things as her little mind develops. Every day is a new learning adventure - it's almost magical to see her grow so much. We love being her parents!

And I love these feet. I could just eat those little toes up!

California Trip

We went home this weekend for my little sister, Lauren's baby shower. We had lots of fun and got to visit with lots of family. All 6 kids in my family were home at the same time and all the cousins were together. This only happens once in a while and it was so fun to see everyone with their babies!

On our way out, Maddie was intrigued by the windmills outside of Cabazon. I wonder what she thought about them. Now that she is in a front facing car seat, she gets to see a lot more of the world. She loves being able to see out the windshield and see her dad driving.
Lauren had a super cute, princess themed baby shower. Maddie loved being at Grandma Eatough's house, but wasn't too sure about the tiara on her head.
Maddie loves all the new toys at Grandma Eatough's house. She carried around these bowling pins all day. She got to play with both of her cousins, Adam & Tyler - a rare treat since we live in different states. She had fun following the boys around and stealing Tyler's juice cup when he wasn't looking. Grandma Milloy bought a baby swing for Maddie and Jasmine and Maddie LOVED it. It was hard to get pictures of her that weren't blurry, but she flapped her arms, kicked her feet, and laughed harder the higher she went.We also went to a pancake breakfast at Uncle Bennett's fire station. Maddie met Smokey the Bear, ate pancakes, and climbed around in fire trucks. It was her nap time, so although she looks a little bored and is yawning, she was just tired. Don't worry Uncle Bennett, Maddie loved the fire trucks!
